From Diagnosis to Breakthroughs: Zoey and Ezeriah's Therapy Journey

Strong as a Mother | Love Therapy Services

When Zoey’s son, Ezeriah, was diagnosed with level 1 autism and ADHD, she didn’t break down—she leveled up. What began as an overwhelming new chapter soon became a story of discovery, advocacy, and real progress.

“A moment I felt really strong as a mother was when Ezeriah got diagnosed with level 1 autism and ADHD. All the challenges that we had already overcome gave me motivation for the journey ahead of us. Doing all my research and finding resources in order to help Ezeriah the best I can definitely made me feel strong enough to get through any challenges we may face.”

Zoey’s journey is one we’re honored to share in our Strong as a Mother series. At Love Therapy Services, we celebrate stories like these—real, raw, and rooted in love.

How Speech and Occupational Therapy Helped Ezeriah Thrive

When Ezeriah started speech therapy, he relied mostly on short, two-word phrases. Over time, his confidence and vocabulary began to grow.

“Speech therapy has helped Ezeriah communicate with longer sentences, compared to the 2-word sentences he was comfortable with when starting out. He is now able to communicate his wants/needs at home with full sentences.”

In occupational therapy, another kind of progress was taking shape—one that helped Ezeriah gain independence in daily life.

“Occupational therapy has helped Ezeriah with utilizing utensils at home, something he had a hard time with before starting therapy.”

These may seem like small wins to some, but for Zoey, they’re life-changing.

Trusted Therapists, Real Relationships

Behind every milestone is a support system—and for Zoey, that includes therapists who have gone above and beyond.

“Ms. Jackie has helped Ezeriah tremendously since day 1 of therapy. They have a great bond with each other which brings us so much joy.”

“Ms. Danielle has also been so great with Ezeriah. He always comes out of occupational therapy extremely happy.”

One moment in particular stood out to Zoey as a turning point:

“One big moment at therapy for Ezeriah was him approaching/engaging with other kids, something he was very uncomfortable with before starting therapy.”

For a child who once hesitated to engage with peers, this was more than a milestone—it was a breakthrough.

Advice for Moms Just Starting Their Therapy Journey

Zoey knows the early days can feel confusing and overwhelming. Her advice for other moms?

“I would love other moms to know that starting this journey can feel scary & confusing, but Love Therapy has always treated Ezeriah like family and has been one of our biggest support systems.”

“You are already doing a wonderful job, by simply wanting to start services—so kudos to you!”

Sometimes, the hardest part is simply getting started. And for that, Zoey offers nothing but encouragement.
